The Layers Beyond the Classroom: My Interests and My Communities
Hi there, as we altogether
join UWP 001v class, I think it might be great for me to share a bit more about
myself beyond the classroom. While my year, major, and career aspirations are
essential components of my identity, there's a colorful world outside of the
academic area that I'm excited to show you.
I'm currently a
third-year college student wandering in the world of psychology. My fascination
with the human mind drove me to choose psychology as my major. However, life
isn't just about textbooks and lectures. Please allow me to reveal some layers
of my life, or true life.
One of my all-time
favorite hobbies is gaming, and I'm particularly obsessed with fps games,
especially Overwatch.
While playing this game, I feel some sense of achievements as I constantly work
with my teammates and compete with other random players. As a player, I really
appreciate the amazing community that comes with it. I once talked with a gamer
and invited him to watch overwatch games with me, we surprisingly met a lot of
pros in-person.
Besides gaming,
I'm deeply immersed in various fandoms. For instance, I'm an ardent fan of the
fantasy genre and frequently discuss books, movies, and TV shows within this
realm. The interactions take place on platforms like Reddit and Discord, where
enthusiasts discuss the latest theories and explore the beauty of our favorite
fictional worlds. The works we talked about most frequently were The_Lord_of_the_Rings,
as well as Baldur’s gate.
Through reading frictional books and watching movies, I usually feel more
relaxed as I imagine being some random characters in the frictional world.
After going back to real life, I will just have better moods, with more things
to hope for.
Aside from video
games and fandoms, I would love to talk about the area I am most interested in,
which is music. While being a good listener, the depth of emotion and
creativity in compositions never ceases to amaze me. I often listening to music
and sometimes engage in discussions with friends to consider the meanings and
thoughts hidden in songs or feel the emotions that composers put into their
masterpieces. Of course, I am a piano player, that is exactly why I start to
feel the composers’ inner world, it will provide me with better opportunities
to understand and play a specific music piece.

These interests
and communities are integral to who I am, and they complement my academic
journey. My hobbies just help achieve the balance and enrich my life both
intellectually and emotionally. As I continue to explore other aspects of my
identity, I look forward to sharing more insights, experiences, and discoveries
with you all through this blog.
